Starting University: the end coming soon?

Well today I had my first “day” (kinda like a half day today) and it was a little overwhelming but the worst is yet to come. I honestly fear for HPAW at this time as I may no longer have the time and dedication to spend to it. I am not trying to cause a panic or anything, HPAW is not ending now, although soon is a possibility now.

For those who care, I am now a first year student in the Engineering Science program at Simon Fraser University (SFU). From what I have been told I will likely have about 13 hours to spare per week which works down to about 2 hours per day. It takes at least 3 hours to bring an HPAW episode from raw filmed version to the final edited version that lands on our servers (not to mention the time to actually film it or that time to plan it). I will be trying my hardest but I also will be getting a part time job in the next few weeks to help pay for my tuition and textbooks; I spent almost $400 today on textbooks, even though I got the most expensive one via bittorrent the magic of the internet.

Oh and Teclis is doing very similar stuff up at SFU as well.

Tiger Woods = Jesus?

It’s great to see EA doing stuff like this; shows they still somewhat care about the gamer or just need more money…

QuickPwn 2.0.2!

To iPhone/iPod Touch users:

I have updated the dev team’s QuickPwn tool to work with firmware version 2.0.2.

This will work with un-modified “device”_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw firmware files.

I have only been able to test 3G jailbreaking thoroughly although this tool is unable to do any permanent damage to your devices.

I only made the firmware bundles and take no responsibility for the QuickPwn tool itself.

Please use with caution this is still in testing and not endorsed by the dev team.

Slow-Mo Lightning: Amazing

I stumbled upon something at Gizmodo today and it simply blew me away: a slow motion lightning strike.

If you watch carefully you will see that it searches for the best path to the ground and then starting from the ground creates a massive arch. It’s simply one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.

Gamespot Wide: It’s Wider!

Well if you point your broswers over to http://beta.gamespot.com you will find the new Gamespot redesign.

First noticeable different will be that it is wider (takes more horizontal space on the screen). This is great for most people who have higher resolutions. I’m looking at it with 1280×1024 and it works very well. The layout of most pages take advantage of this extra space and eveything seems more organized.

Videos are now higher resolution even for non-subcribers although only subcribers get the 720p videos. Videos are now embedeed in the game pages because of the wider format.

I’m still going through it myself but take a look for yourselves.

Gamespot seems to be finally improving but now there is new competition from The Giant Bomb.

Always at the mercy of YouTube

I have found temporary fix, split the video in two. Although I have the ability to upload an unlimited length it seems YouTube won’t accept over an hour anymore.

UPDATE: Well now it’s the end of the day and the problem remains unresolved. I am running tests to see just what the problem is but in the mean time just download and watch the H.264 version, it’s much better anyway.

Time after time I encounter problems with video hosts (Gamespot, Google Video and Youtube). This appears to be one of these times.

The Mario Kart Wii HPAW episode has been stuck in processing for hours now and I’m beginning to wonder if this is some bug or just a long wait.

Dedication: 5:00 AM

Well it’s about 5:00 in the morning and I have just posted the new HPAW episode and and about to go to bed.

This is how long an HPAW episode takes to get online. We filmed at 8:00pm which is shown in the episode at the Wii menu.

Hope you guys enjoy it.
